Amazon Prime Video’s pre-election release of Sasha Baron Cohen’s political satire Borat Subsequent Moviefilm cracked Netflix’s weekly dominance of most-popular streamed content on television, according to Nielsen.
The sequel to Cohen’s 2006 mockumentary featuring the British comic as Borat Sagdiyev, a fictitious Kazakhstani journalist who travels back to the United States to sell his underage daughter, finished No. 8 with 570 million minutes streamed between Oct. 19-25.
Again finishing atop the weekly chart was “Schitt’s Creek” with 1.05 billion minutes streamed across 80 episodes. Netflix’s license of “The Office” continues to register with streamers, finishing No. 2 with 869 million minutes streamed across 192 episodes. Netflix’s original series “The Haunting of Bly Manor” rounded out the podium with 838 million minutes across nine episodes.
