Limited series “The Watcher,” based on true events, topped Netflix’s English language top 10 chart for the second consecutive week with 148.2 million hours streamed through Oct. 23. The show, co-starring Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Mia Farrow and Jennifer Coolidge, has totaled 273.2 million hours viewed since it launched. The limited series was also No. 1 in 65 countries.
Former chart topper “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” generated 69.1 million hours, adding to its tally as the No. 2 most-streamed series on Netflix ever with 856.2 million hours in the first 28 days.
Based on Tembi Locke’s memoir of the same name, “From Scratch” debuted with 32.2 million hours viewed. Starring Zoe Saldana, the cross-cultural love story landed in the top 10 in 74 countries.
New movie The School for Good and Evil debuted atop the English language films chart with 78.8 million hours viewed. Based on the international best-selling series by Soman Chainani, the movie stars Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington. Horror-comedy The Curse of Bridge Hollow had 25.3 million hours viewed. Mystery-thriller Luckiest Girl Alive came in No. 3 with 19.3 million hours. Inspired by real-life events, The Stranger is a gripping tale that chronicles one of the most notorious crimes in Australian history. The true-crime drama had 17 million hours viewed. Finally, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, adapted from the Stephen King novel and produced by Ryan Murphy (“Dahmer”), had 5.8 million hours viewed.
Season three of reality TV series “Love is Blind” returned with a new cast looking for romance, generating 24.9 million hours. “The Midnight Club” saw 21.7 million hours streamed. Volume three of “Unsolved Mysteries” returned with 18.9 million hours viewed. Paranormal reality series “28 Days Haunted” entered the chart with almost 13 million hours. Finally, “Wild Croc Territory with Matt Wright” bowed with 11.5 million hours streamed.
For the second week, Brazilian romantic comedy Someone Borrowed topped the non-English language movies chart with 14.1 million hours streamed. Colombian TV drama “Til Money Do Us Part” (21.9 million), German dramas “Barbarians I” and “Barbarians II” (8.3 million and 14.6 million hours, respectively), Italian true-crime docuseries “Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi” (11.6 million hours) and Sweden’s “The Playlist” (10.9 million hours) also made it on the non-English language TV chart.
Korean drama 20th Century Girl entered the non-English language movie chart with 8 million hours viewed. Meanwhile, returning charters included German horror film Old People (3.6 million hours), Indian drama Laal Singh Chaddha (3 million hours), Filipino drama Dollhouse (2 million), Dutch drama Forever Rich (2 million hours), Danish thriller Loving Adults (1.8 million) and German horror Blood Red Sky (1.5 million). And on the TV side, Spanish thriller “Holy Family,” Korean dramas “Little Women” and “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” German historical drama “The Empress,” and Polish drama “High Water” returned to the list.
