Netflix: ‘Don’t Look Up’ Again Dominates Weekly Streaming

The Netflix original movie Don’t Look Up dominated the streamer’s original programming for the week ended Jan. 2, with more than 152 million hours across 94 countries. The tally surpassed the opening week debut by 37% at 111 million hours.

Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett, the movie is about two low-level astronomers embarking on a global media tour to warn people about a planet-killing comet hurtling toward Earth.

The movie again dwarfed The Unforgivable, starring Sandra Bullock, which tracked more than 21.3 million hours in its fourth week of release. The drama, with 208.2 million hours, marks Bullock‚Äôs second movie after Bird Box (282 million hours) to rank among the streamer’s top 10 most-popular English-language films within its first 28 days of release.

Actioner Red Notice, starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, remains Netflix’s most-streamed English-language movie after 28 days of release with more than 364 million hours.

Other top-performing titles in the week included The Lost Daughter with 18.2 million hours; Back to the Outback (17.7 million); Red Notice (14.5 million); Spider-Man: Homecoming (14.1 million); Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (12.8 million); Death to 2021 (10.3 million); Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (5.44 million), and Spider-Man (5.43 million).
