Merchandising: Target Unveils ‘Game of Thrones’ Exclusive Ahead of Black Friday

Assigning any retail exclusives to the Nov. 26 new releases was less of a concern for the chain stores than preparing for post-Thanksgiving Black Friday deals.

Target in particular trotted out a number of deals in effect from Nov. 24 to Nov. 27 as a preview of what to expect from its Black Friday offerings.

Among the discounts offered were $15 for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs of movies such as Aquaman, Bohemian Rhapsody, John Wick: Chapter 3, Rocketman and more.

Christmas, holiday and family DVDs were offered for $4 or $6 apiece.

Target.com offered 25% off select boxed sets, including movies, TV shows and book collections.

In preparation for the Dec. 3 disc release of the final season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Target offered DVDs of the earlier seasons for $10 each.

Target also touted preorders for Game of Thrones: Season 8 on Blu-ray, at $44.99. Target’s exclusive edition of the final season will include a special “How the Storm was Born” featurette about the making of the controversial second-to-last episode.
