Merchandising: ‘Doctor Sleep’ Among Latest Best Buy Steelbooks
February 4, 2020
Exclusives for the Feb. 4 new releases were rather scant. Best Buy, though had a number of new Steelbook Blu-rays available.
Among the week’s theatrical-to-disc newcomers, Best Buy offered a $32.99 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray combo pack Steelbook for Warner’s Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining.

The other Steelbooks involved catalog titles. One was the $24.99 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut of Sony Pictures’ Boyz N the Hood, the 1991 urban drama from director John Singleton.

The other was the 35th anniversary Blu-ray Steelbook of Unviersal Pictures’ The Breakfast Club.

Among other noteworthy developments for the week, Target is showing in-store videos promoting a March 17 Blu-ray and DVD street date for Jumanji: The Next Level, though Sony Pictures has yet to announce the home video release of the film.

Walmart had an exclusive DVD double feature of Doctor Sleep and The Shining, at $22.96.
The “Best Buy Exclusive” Steelbooks are lately SEVERELY lacking in quality. The 4K of The Wizard of Oz looked terrible, you can’t even see the patchwork on the Scarecrow’s face that was clearly visible on the blu-ray from several years ago. The 4K Steelbook of Iron Man 2 had such a low level on the sound that it was ridiculous…Are the pressing there own discs with just ANY source material. Oh! Don’t try to return a defective disc as they won’t take back ANY opened media!!!
