Merchandising: Best Buy Prepares for Father’s Day

May 31 didn’t see anything of note released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, so there wasn’t much in the way of exclusive promotions for retailers to tout.

So Best Buy looked ahead to Father’s Day (June 19) with its “Top Deals” at

A banner that stated “Give Dad one of his favorite movies” linked to a slew of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray titles such as The Suicide Squad, No Time to Die, Dune: Part One, Last Night in Soho, Moonfall, Hacksaw Ridge, The Hurt Locker, Apocalypse Now, The Matrix Resurrections, A Clockwork Orange and Halloween Kills.

Another promotion, using the pun “I am your Father’s Day,” linked to “Star Wars” movies, with 4K titles at $17.99, Blu-rays at $13.99 and DVDs at $8.99. The Best Buy-exclusive “Skywalker Saga” boxed set was offered at $179.99, a savings of $45 from the regular price.

Another Best Buy sale offered 15% savings on two or more select movie titles when purchased in-store. Titles included John Wick, The Goonies, E.T., Terminator 2, Joker, Ready Play One, Godzilla vs. Kong, the “Fast & Furious” collection and more.

Target didn’t offer any DVD or Blu-ray deals, but did have a “Days of Play” sale with up to 50% savings on top PlayStation video games and accessories.
