Merchandising: A World of ‘Dragon’ Exclusives

Fans of the “How to Train Your Dragon” movies have plenty of options for the May 21 home video release of the third film in the franchise.

Produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World arrived on shelves with exclusives offered by each of the big three home entertainment retailers.

Best Buy offered a Steelbook edition of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc version for $34.99.

Best Buy also offered 4K UHD Blu-rays of the two previous ‘Dragon’ films for $17.99 each.

Target had a gift set of the Blu-ray combo pack with wearable dragon wings, for $27.99.

Walmart’s gift set of the Blu-ray combo pack came with Funko Pocket Pop! keychains of Toothless and Light Fury for $29.96.

Among other promotions, Target had a special edition of the CD soundtrack to the new Elton John biopic Rocketman with two exclusive tracks for $13.99.

And Walmart has an exclusive Blu-ray ($17.96) and DVD ($14.96) of Universal’s Run the Race, a film produced by Tim and Robby Tebow about two brothers using football to build a better life for themselves.
