The 2003 mystery thriller In the Cut will be released on Blu-ray Disc in a 20th anniversary uncut director’s edition May 16 by Mill Creek Entertainment.

Based on the national best-selling novel by Susanna Moore, the film follows Frannie Avery (Meg Ryan), a reserved English professor, who becomes obsessed after seeing more than she should of an impassioned couple in the underbelly of lower Manhattan. After the young woman turns up dead, Frannie is questioned by a homicide detective (Mark Ruffalo) who draws her into a liberating but disturbing erotic encounter. As the body count rises, familiar suspects begin to emerge.

In the Cut is directed by Oscar winner Jane Campion (The Power of the Dog, The Piano), who has garnered 169 award wins and 103 nominations including a Primetime Emmy for “Top of the Lake,” plus taking home 2022 BAFTA, Directors Guild of America (DGA), Film Independent Spirit, Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards and more for The Power of the Dog

In addition to Ryan (Top Gun, You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally) and Ruffalo (“The Avengers” franchise, Shutter Island, Netflix’s The Adam Project), the film stars Oscar nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh (Netflix series “Atypical,” Apple TV+ series “Lisey’s Story,” Single White Female, The Hateful 8) and Golden Globe winner Kevin Bacon (Footloose, Showtime series “City on the Hill,” X-Men: First Class).
