Media Play News’ Annual ’40 Under 40′ Issue Moves Up to August; Nominations Now Being Accepted

Media Play News has opened nominations for its fifth annual 40 Under 40 issue, which recognizes rising stars and powerful young executives involved in home entertainment.

This year, the 40 Under 40 issue moves up to August, two months earlier than its traditional October date.

As always, this prestigious list honors people under the age of 40 (before Aug. 1, 2022) who are on their way up, or already in a position of prominence, at a studio, independent film company, streaming service, retailer, distributor or tech company.

“We’re looking for talented young people who have applied creative thinking to a company/industry problem, attained notoriety in the industry, led successful initiatives, projects or campaigns, or brought fresh thinking to the industry,” said Media Play News editor in chief Stephanie Prange.

Honorees will be selected by the Media Play News staff based on their contributions to their companies, their role in their industry, and the likelihood of them becoming a key leader in their field.

Nominations are due Friday, June 24 for possible inclusion in the Aug. 22 issue.

Prange noted that the makeup of the 40 honorees has changed significantly since the annual feature was launched in 2018. “We’re seeing an accelerated blurring of the lines between transactional, television, streaming and other channels of content distribution, as distributors become filmmakers, filmmakers become distributors, and studio marketing and sales teams take on additional responsibilities for their parent company’s streaming ventures,” she said.
