

JustWatch: Oscar-Nominees Dominate Weekly Streamed Movies; ‘The Last of Us’ Tops Episodic Programming

Heading into the 95th Academy Awards on March 12, many of the Best Picture nominees dominated weekly streaming through Feb. 26, led by A24’s The Whale, starring Brendan Fraser as an obese English teacher in a small Idaho town desperate to reconnect with his teenage daughter.
Other most-streamed top 3 nominees included industry-awards behemoth Everything Everywhere All at Once and Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie starrer Babylon, according to new data from JustWatch, which tracks the streaming video habits of 20 million users across 59 markets, including the United States.
Among episodic programming, perennial chart topper HBO Max’s “The Last of Us,” again topped all shows, ahead of Starz’s “Party Down” and Peacock’s “Poker Face,” the latter from showrunner Rian Johnson (Knives Out ), and starring Natasha Lyonne (“Orange Is the New Black”).
