Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Dominion remained atop the chart of the 10 most popular films on Fandango’s transactional digital service Vudu the week ended July 24.
Available for premium digital rental and purchase beginning July 15, the movie co-stars franchise regulars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with cast members Laura Dern, Sam Neil, and Jeff Goldblum from the original series. It’s the third in the “Jurassic World” franchise and the sixth in the overall “Jurassic” franchise. In the film, set four years after the destruction of Isla Nubar, dinosaurs roam the Earth again.
Also remaining at No. 2 for a second week was Universal’s horror film The Black Phone, also available for premium digital rental and purchase. It follows a teenage boy who is abducted by a sadistic killer (Ethan Hawke) and discovers a phone in his basement that allows him to communicate with the killer’s previous victims.
Debuting at No. 3 on the chart was Warner’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, available for digital purchase. The four-hour director’s cut of the 2017 superhero team-up Justice League is a re-edited and extended version of the DC Comics adaptation, which he couldn’t finish in 2017, and serves as the sequel to his 2013 film Man of Steel and its 2016 follow-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Rising from No. 5 to No. 4 on the chart was DreamWorks Animation’s caper comedy The Bad Guys, available for digital purchase and newly available for digital rental. Distributed by Universal, the animated adventure follows reformed but misunderstood criminal animals who attempt to become good.
Rising from No. 10 to No. 5 on the chart was The Northman, available for digital rental and on sale for digital purchase. The film, based on the Viking legends that inspired Hamlet, tells the story of a deposed Viking prince who returns from hiding to seek revenge against his uncle for murdering his father.
