James Bond No Match for ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ in the U.K.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage took the No. 1 spot on the U.K.’s weekly Official Film Chart through Jan. 12 following its release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

The Marvel-inspired sequel starring Tom Hardy supplanted the previous week’s chart-topper, MGM/Universal Pictures’ No Time to Die, and also saw a second placing at No. 5, as part of a collection containing the original 2018 Venom.

Separately, Encanto — Disney’s new animated musical hit — rose one spot to reach a new peak at No. 3, while Sony’s 2004 Spider-Man 2 (starring Tobey Maguire) swooped up nine spots to No. 4, its first entrance into the Top 10.

Warner Bros. Pictures/DC’s The Suicide Squad fell three spots to No. 6, while Spider-Man: Far From Home (starring Tom Holland) rose one spot to No. 7, and Paramount Home Entertainment’s Paw Patrol: The Movie landed at the No. 8 spot.

Debuting at No. 9 was Universal’s Halloween Kills, the 12th installment in the cult series, and a direct sequel to 2018’s Halloween. Unstoppable killer Michael Myers escapes once again to continue his murderous spree, but Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) inspires local residents to take matters into their own hands to hunt down the killer and end his reign of terror — once and for all.

Finally, The Last Duel, co-starring Matt Damon and Adam Driver, dropped four spots to round off the countdown at No. 10.
