Netflix has landed the rights to an original series executive produced and starring former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Netflix won the bidding rights to the father/daughter global spy adventure series featuring Schwarzenegger in his first-ever scripted TV series (excluding a stint on reality show “The Apprentice”) and Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) as his daughter.
The untitled program is produced by Skydance TV — the same company that produced the last two “Terminator” movies — including most recently Terminator: Dark Fate, which saw the “end” to Schwarzenegger’s long-running T-800 cyborg character.
The actor this month hits retail shelves and digital with Lionsgate’s Iron Mask, a period piece co-starring Jackie Chan that Rotten Tomatoes gave a 21% approval rating and called “bizarrely misguided” and “unintentionally hilarious.”
Separately, Netflix also rebooted the media page on its website for the first time in two years. The press/media page, which last featured images from 2018 series “Maniac” and “I Kissed a Boy,” has been updated to mirror the subscriber home page showcasing original content selections.
“Discover stories to share with the United States,” reads the U.S. media page, followed by “I’m interested in covering titles releasing in November.”
