‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ Tops May Disc Sales

DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, distributed by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, was No. 1 on the top 10 list of combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales for May 2019 according to the NPD Group’s VideoScan tracking service.

The third film in the animated “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise earned $160.8 million at the domestic box office, and was released on Blu-ray and DVD May 21.

Another animated sequel, Warner’s The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, released May 7, was the month’s No. 2 seller.

Lionsgate’s Cold Pursuit, a May 14, release, was No. 3 for the month.

The Universal Pictures comedy The Upside, a remake of a French film, was No. 4.

Paramount’s’ What Men Want debuted at No. 5 on the monthly list.

A catalog movie, Warner’s 1985 adventure classic The Goonies, jumped up to No. 9 for the month. It was No. 14 the previous month.

Dragon entered the list of the year’s top 10 disc sellers at No. 10.

The top nine titles for the year remained mostly the same, with Warner’s Aquaman at No. 1 and Fox’s Bohemian Rhapsody at No. 2.

Warner’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald moved up to No. 3 while Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet slipped to No. 4.

Warner’s Creed II fell out of the top 10.

According to NPD, the May 2019 top 10 by units sold were:
