Horror Hit ‘Smile’ Takes Top Spot on Weekly Vudu Chart

The horror film Smile topped the chart of the 10 most-popular films on Fandango’s transactional digital service Vudu the week ended Nov. 20.

The Paramount hit, which debuted for digital purchase Nov. 15, stars Sosie Bacon as a therapist who begins to experience an overwhelming terror that takes over her life after witnessing a patient’s bizarre suicide. It earned $210 million at the global box office to make it the top original horror title of the year.

Paramount’s series juggernaut Yellowstone: Season 5, Part 1 remained at No. 2 on the chart. The series follows family patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Coster), who is determined to protect his ranch and his family’s legacy.

Falling from the top spot to No. 3 on the chart was the Universal Pictures rom-com Ticket to Paradise, which debuted for premium digital purchase and rental Nov. 8. It stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts as exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once made.

The Brad Pitt actioner Bullet Train, available for digital rental and on sale for digital purchase, rose from No. 6 to No. 5 on the chart. It stars Pitt as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. His latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe on the world’s fastest train.

Even though it’s not yet Thanksgiving, The Grinch, Illumination’s 2018 animated Christmas tale, entered the chart at No. 8. It’s available for digital rental and sale.
