Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw held onto the No. 1 spot on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart the week ended Nov. 16.
Disney’s photorealistic remake of The Lion King remained No. 2 on both charts in its fourth week on disc.
The 12th and final season of “The Big Bang Theory,” released on disc by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, debuted at No. 3 on the overall sales chart and No. 6 on the Blu-ray chart.
The top new theatrical-to-disc was Universal Pictures Good Boys, at No. 4 on both charts. The raunchy ‘R’-rated comedy featuring the misadventures of three pre-teen friends preparing for their first kissing party earned $83 million at the domestic box office.
Another newcomer, Sony Pictures’ The Angry Birds Movie 2, debuted at No. 5 on the overall chart and No. 3 on the Blu-ray chart. The animated sequel earned $41.7 million from U.S. theaters.
Disney’s Toy Story 4 was No. 5 on the overall sales chart and No. 6 on the Blu-ray chart.
It was a good week for TV content in the top 10 disc sellers, as Paramount’s Star Trek: Discovery — Season Two debuted at No. 8 overall and No. 7 on the Blu-ray chart.
Blu-ray Disc formats accounted for 56% of Good Boys first-week sales. The Blu-ray share was 32% for “Big Bang,” 61% for Angry Birds 2 and 61% for “Discovery.”
The Media Play News rental chart for the week ended Nov. 17 also had Good Boys in the top spot, with Hobbs & Shaw sliding to No. 2.
Angry Birds 2 debuted as the No. 3 rental, with Lionsgate’s 47 Meters Down: Uncaged at No. 4, and Lion King at No. 5.
