‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ Tops Redbox Charts for Third Week

Lionsgate’s Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard remained No. 1 on both the Redbox disc rental chart and the Redbox On Demand chart the week ended Sept. 5.

It was the third consecutive week on top of both charts for the action comedy, a sequel to 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek.

No. 2 on both charts was Sony Pictures’ Peter Rabbit 2 in its second week, maintaining its spot on the digital chart and rising a spot on the rental chart.

That pushed Warner’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It down a spot to No. 3 on the disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s more than 40,000 red kiosks.

Paramount Home Entertainment’s A Quiet Place Part II remained No. 4 on the disc rental chart and No. 3 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital VOD and sellthrough transactions.

The week’s top new release, at No. 5 on the disc chart, was DreamWorks Animation’s Spirit Untamed, distributed by Universal Pictures. The animated film, a spinoff of 2002’s Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, tells the story of a girl bonding with a wild horse and earned $17.6 million at the domestic box office.

The No. 5 On Demand title was horror sequel Don’t Breathe 2, from Sony Pictures, which was released via VOD Sept. 3 after earning more than $28 million at the domestic box office.

Another newcomer, Sony Pictures’ football drama 12 Mighty Orphans, which stars Luke Wilson, Martin Sheen and Robert Duvall, took No. 7 on the disc chart and No. 10 on the digital chart.

The Redbox-exclusive Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman, another Sept. 3 release, debuted at No. 10 on the disc chart and No. 9 on the digital chart.
