HBO Max Post-Apocalyptic Series ‘The Last of Us’ Sees Record Episodic Viewership Growth

The HBO Max original series “The Last of Us” recorded a 22% uptick in initial second episode viewership to 5.7 million, from 4.7 million during the premiere episode of the post-apocalyptic survival series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, according to new Nielsen data.

The series, which debuted on HBO and subscription VOD platform HBO Max on Jan. 15, generated 10 million total combined viewers during its first 48 hours on both the linear and streaming channels — 18 million after the first week.

The premiere episode tally fell short of the debut viewership of “House of the Dragon,” which topped 10 million last August, including 3.2 million linear viewers. “Game of Thrones” remains HBO’s most-watched premiere at 17.9 million viewers on April 14, 2019.
