‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Tops Disc Sales for June, Reaches No. 4 for the Year

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Godzilla vs. Kong was No. 1 on the top 10 list of combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales for June 2021 according to the NPD Group’s VideoScan tracking service. The monster showdown has been the top-selling disc for four consecutive weeks, including the second half of June following its June 15 disc release, which was enough to push it to N0. 4 on the list of top sellers for the entire year.

The top seller for May, Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon, slipped to No. 2 in June, but the animated fantasy held steady at No. 3 for the year as a whole.

No. 3 in June was Warner’s live-action/animation hybrid Tom & Jerry, down just one spot from May. It also entered the top 10 list for the year, at No. 9.

The No. 4 June seller was Universal Pictures’ actioner Nobody, starring Bob Odenkirk.

Jumping up to No. 5 for June, up 31 spots from the previous month, was Warner’s eight-film “Harry Potter” collection.

Another newcomer in the monthly top 10 was Warner’s direct-to-video animated superhero movie Batman: The Long Halloween — Part One, at No. 7.

The June top 10 list was also marked by catalog titles getting a boost from viewers catching up in time for sequels. These included Paramount’s A Quiet Place at No. 6, Lionsgate’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard at No. 9, and Warner’s Space Jam at No. 10.
