Without much in the way of major new releases to contend with, the Disney animated hit Frozen II continued to dominate home video sales, topping both NPD VideoScan’s First Alert chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart the week ended March 7.
The sequel to 2013’s Frozen had debuted in the top spot a week earlier. In fact, the previous week’s top six overall disc sellers held the sames spots for a second consecutive week.
Lionsgate’s Knives Out stayed at No. 2 on both charts, selling about 18% as many copies as Frozen II. Lionsgate’s Midway remained No. 3 on both charts in its third week.
Also in its third week, the Mr. Rogers docudrama A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood stayed at No. 4 on the overall sales chart but slipped to No. 5 on the Blu-ray chart.
The No. 5 overall title was once again the racing drama Ford v Ferrari, from Disney-owned 20th Century Fox. It moved up to No. 4 on the Blu-ray chart.
Warner’s Joker stayed at No. 6 overall but slid to No. 8 on the Blu-ray chart.
The top new release, at No. 7 on the overall sales chart and No. 6 on the Blu-ray chart, was the Universal Pictures drama Queen & Slim.
Warner’s Titans: The Complete Second Season, the disc version of the DC Universe streaming service original series, was No. 12 on the overall chart and No. 18 on the Blu-ray chart.
Blu-ray Disc formats accounted for 61% of total unit sales for Queen & Slim, with 9% of its overall tally coming from the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition. For Titans, 43% of its total came from Blu-ray.
On the Media Play News rental chart for the week ended March 8, Frozen II moved up to No. 1 in its second week, pushing Knives Out to No. 2.
Midway stayed at No. 3, while Queen & Slim took No. 4 and Ford v Ferrari remained No. 5.
