Early Shirley Temple Film ‘Little Miss Marker’ Coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 7

Little Miss Marker, one of the first Shirley Temple films, is coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 7 from Kino Lorber.

The 1934 film will be released on Blu-ray Disc only, at a suggested retail price of $24.95.

Directed by Alexander Hall, the film’s cast also includes Adolphe Menjou, Charles Bickford, Dorothy Dell and Lynn Overman.

In one of her earliest and most popular roles, Temple melts the hearts of a gang of hardened gamblers when she is left as an IOU or “marker” for a debt. Menjou stars as a jaded head bookie, “Sorrowful” Jones, who winds up playing reluctant papa to the curly-topped waif and soon falls under her spell. Helping Sorrowful with the rigors of instant fatherhood is the beautiful Bangles Carson (Dell), a nightclub singer whose racketeer boyfriend Big Steve (Bickford) is big trouble.

Little Miss Marker is based on a story by Damon Runyon.

Bonus features on the Blu-ray Disc include a new commentary by film critic and author Lee Gambin and costume historian Elissa Rose.
