DreamWorks Animation’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish debuted at No. 1 on the Official Film Chart, the U.K.’s weekly home entertainment sales chart.
The sequel to 2011’s “Shrek” spin-off Puss in Boots entered the sales chart March 15 on top based on digital sales. In the movie, Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) discovers he’s used eight of his nine lives thanks to his daring adventures — and decides to seek out the mythical Last Wish to restore them.
Previous chart topper, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, which spent four weeks atop the chart, moved down to No. 2. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Oscar nominee Elvis rose two to spots to No. 3, while Lionsgate U.K.’s Living held on to No. 4 based on digital downloads only.
Paramount Home Entertainment’s Top Gun: Maverick rounds out the top five, finishing just ahead of Sony Pictures’ Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody (No. 6) which re-entered the chart for the first time since February.
Disney/Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever tumbled five spots to No. 7, finishing the week just ahead of Oscar nominee The Banshees of Inisherin (20th Century Studios), which rocketed up 13 spots.
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Christmas action-comedy Violent Night, starring David Harbour, soared 17 spots to No. 9 to enter the top 10 for the first time following its release on DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K UHD Blu-ray.
Finally, Dwayne Johnson’s turn in Warner Bros.’ Black Adam remained on the chart for another week, falling two places to No. 10.
