In its third week on the chart, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Downton Abbey: A New Era climbed to No. 1 on the Official Film Chart, the U.K.’s weekly home entertainment sales chart the week ended Aug. 24.
Following its release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, the sequel to 2019’s Downton Abbey: The Movie — which also reached No. 1 back in February 2020 — has outsold the rest of the top 10 combined with a very impressive first-week tally on disc. At No. 6 this week is a boxed set of Downton Abbey: The Motion Picture and Downton Abbey: A New Era.
As a result, the previous week’s chart-topper, video game adaptation Sonic the Hedgehog 2, dropped to No. 3 as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore held on at No. 2.
Warner’s The Batman climbed one to No. 4, while Universal’s Sing 2 moved up seven spots to No. 5, and Paramount Home Entertainment’s The Lost City moved up to No. 7.
Paramount’s original Top Gun was once again back in the countdown at No. 8 after ascending seven spots with the release of Top Gun: Maverick to digital downloads.
Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fell three spots to No. 9, with Paramount’s original 1978 Grease slipping six spots to No. 10.
