The passing of actor Chadwick Boseman continues to refuel consumer interest in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, which rose eight places to top the weekly Official Film Chart in Britain through Sept. 9.
The Disney movie, which was first released before the Official Film Chart launched, entered the Top 10 last week in ninth spot as Panther fans continue to look back at the career of Boseman, who died on Aug. 28.
Paramount Home Entertainment’s Sonic the Hedgehog (2), Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s Trolls World Tour (3), eOne’s 1917 (4) and Warner Home Video’s Joker (5) held their respective chart positions, with Disney/Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker moving up four spots to sixth.
Warner’s Birds of Prey (7) and Universal’s Dolittle (8) each fell one spot as Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Jumanji: The Next Level moved up three spots to ninth, followed by the studio’s Bad Boys For Life at No. 10.
Further notable Top 20 entries include Warner’s 2001: A Space Odyssey at No. 13; The Goonies (1985) at No. 16 following the retail release of a new Steelbook edition, and Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which shot up 16 spots to No. 18.
