‘Dark Phoenix’ Tops Redbox Disc and Digital Charts

The superhero film X-Men: Dark Phoenix, from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, debuted at No. 1 on Redbox’s kiosk disc rental and On Demand charts the week ended Sept. 22.

The Redbox disc rental chart tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at the company’s more than 40,000 red kiosks. The Redbox On Demand chart tracks digital transactions, including both electronic sellthrough and streaming rentals.

The latest “X-Men” film earned $65.8 million at the domestic box office, the lowest tally of the franchise. The film is considered a finale of sorts for the Fox “X-Men” era as Disney will have control of the characters going forward.

Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin rose to the No. 2 spot on the disc rental chart in its second week.

Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, which topped both charts the previous week, slipped to No. 3 on the rental chart and No. 2 on the On Demand chart.

Sony Pictures’ Men in Black: International dropped to No. 4 on the disc chart and No. 3 on the On Demand chart.
