‘Croods’ Returns Atop Redbox Disc Rental Chart; ‘Monster Hunter’ Still No. 1 On Demand

Universal Pictures’ The Croods: A New Age returned to the No. 1 spot on the Redbox disc rental chart the week ended March 14. It had debuted at No. 1 two weeks earlier before dropping to No. 2 in its second week.

The animated sequel remained No. 2 on the Redbox On Demand chart, which tracks digital rental transactions.

The No. 1 digital title for a second week was Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s video game adaptation Monster Hunter, which slipped to No. 2 on the Redbox disc rental chart, which tracks DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals at Redbox’s more than 40,000 red kiosks.

Quiver’s Crisis, available as a Redbox exclusive on disc until April 20, rose to No. 3 on the disc rental chart and remained No. 6 on the On Demand chart. The film tells multiple stories about people dealing with how drug trafficking and drug abuse affects their lives.

Rounding out the top five discs were Lionsgate’s Fatale at No. 4, and STX Films’ Greenland, distributed on disc by Universal Pictures, at No. 5.

On the On Demand chart, Fatale was No. 3 and Greenland was No. 4, followed by Lionsgate’s Wrong Turn reboot at No. 5 (Wrong Turn was the No. 9 disc rental).

The week’s top newcomer was the Lionsgate’s Vanguard, a Chinese actioner starring Jackie Chan as the CEO of a covert security firm tasked with protecting a wealthy businessman who rats out his corrupt partner in an arms deal. It was No. 6 on the disc chart and No. 7 on the digital chart.
