January 9, 2023
Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ box office hit Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to hit digital retail channels on Feb. 1, followed by release on DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and 4K UHD Blu-ray on Feb. 7.
The sequel to the original Black Panther, starring the late Chadwick Boseman, also begins streaming on Disney+ on Feb. 1, as previously announced.
In addition, a two-movie bundle of both “Black Panther” films will be available for purchase or rent on all major digital platforms.
In the film, as the nation of Wakanda mourns the death of T’Challa, Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright) and General Okoye (Danai Gurira) investigate the threat of Namor (Tenoch Huerta) and his long-hidden underwater kingdom of Talokan, whose cultural heritage might hold the secret to restoring the legacy of the Black Panther.
The cast also includes Angela Bassett, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman and Dominique Thorne.
Bonus materials on disc and with select digital retailers include deleted scenes, a gag reel, the featurettes “Envisioning Two Worlds” and “Passing the Mantle,” and audio commentary from filmmakers Ryan Coogler, Joe Robert Cole and Autumn Durald Arkapaw.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has made $445.4 million at the domestic box office and more than $827.2 million worldwide as of Jan. 8.
Walmart will offer an exclusive 4K Ultra HD edition with custom artwork and a limited-edition Black Panther enamel pin.
Best Buy will feature the 4K Ultra HD combo pack with two separate Steelbook designs from artist Dorothea Taylor, one featuring Wakanda warriors and the other, the world of Talokan.
