Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment’s Black Adam was No. 1 on the top 10 list of physical-media sales for January 2023, according to the NPD Group’s VideoScan tracking service that compiles DVD and Blu-ray transactions. That’s hardly surprising given that the comic book movie was the top-selling title on the weekly charts the first three weeks after its Jan. 3 release on disc.

No. 2 in January was the top seller the previous two months, Paramount Home Entertainment’s Top Gun: Maverick.

The No. 3 seller for the month was the horror sequel Halloween Ends, released by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment on disc at the end of 2022, on Dec. 27.

Sony Pictures’ The Woman King took the No. 4 slot in January in its first full month of release. The film about a powerful African nation in the 18th and 19th centuries had been No. 8 in December after a Dec. 13 disc release.

Similarly, the No. 5 spot went to another Dec. 13 disc release, Universal’s Ticket to Paradise, the rom-com starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney as a former married couple tried to prevent their daughter from repeating their mistakes.
