“Foundation,” which debuts Sept. 24, is an adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s classic sci-fi novels. The story follows a group of exiles who learn that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it. Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) predicts the fall of the Empire and he and his followers establish the Foundation to attempt to provide civilization a future. The series also stars Lee Pace, Terrance Mann, Cassian Bilton, Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn and Alfred Enoch.
The second-most-anticipated new show was Hulu’s “Y: The Last Man,” debuting Sept. 13. The DC Comic-based series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome.
Taking the third spot on the new show chart was Disney+’s “Star Wars: Visions,” which debuts Sept. 22. It’s a collection of animated short films based on the “Star Wars” universe presented by top anime creators.

Season five of Spanish crime heist show “Money Heist,” No. 2 on the returning show chart, comes out Sept. 3. And season two of the Belgian sci-fi thriller “Into the Night,” which landed at No. 3 on the returning show chart, debuts Sept. 8.
