Paramount Home Entertainment’s A Quiet Place Part II debuted at No. 1 on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart the week ended July 31.
The suspenseful sequel has earned $159 million at the domestic box office. Blu-ray Disc formats accounted for 58% of first-week A Quiet Place Part II unit sales, while the specific 4K Ultra HD version comprised 25% of its total.
A Blu-ray two-pack of both “A Quiet Place” movies debuted at No. 7 on the overall disc chart and No. 3 on the Blu-ray chart.
The top seller the previous two weeks, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Mortal Kombat remake, dropped to No. 2 on both charts, selling about one-third as many copies as the new “Quiet Place” entry.
Warner’s 1996 sports comedy Space Jam remained No. 3 on the overall disc chart and was No. 15 on the Blu-ray chart.
Lionsgate’s Spiral: From the Book of Saw dropped two spots on each chart to No. 4, while Warner’s Godzilla vs. Kong was No. 5 on both charts.
The Media Play News rental chart for the week ended Aug. 1 also saw A Quiet Place Part II debut at No. 1, pushing Warner’s Wrath of Man to No. 2 after a couple of weeks in the top spot.
Lionsgate’s Midnight in the Switchgrass, a murder mystery with Megan Fox and Bruce Willis, debuted as the No. 3 rental, followed by Spiral at No. 4 and Mortal Kombat at No. 5.
